The rains are upon us once more. The May long weekend was not too bad, a little rain in the morning then clearing up. This weekend is looking pretty good for the Puntledge Paddle, sun and cloud with temperatures rising. For those who do not know about the Puntledge Paddle, BC Hydro allows for water to be released in the river creating class 5 rapids, not for the faint of heart. Last year saw 189 paddlers with this year promising even more. If this is your thing remember the Ginger Giraffe B&B has a hot tub to ease those sore paddling muscles.
Comming in June the 4th annual Shellfish Festival. The 19th hosts a galla dinner that sells out very quickly, and the 20th the festival in the Marina Park. There will be vendors, shellfish samples, activities, and a beer garden. A short twenty minute walk from our house at a moderate pace approx. 2KM.

May at the Ginger Giraffe Bed and Breakfast
May has arrived, but not the warm weather. We have had some beautiful sunny days but the temperature remains cool. We have had our first guests from the UK for this year, which considering the volcano problem was a great surprize. They enjoyed a hike at Seal Bay park, saw the tonne of snow at Mt. Washington and even ventured into Cumberland for a cup of coffee and a visit to Comox Lake. They also dined at Martines Bistro on Sunday and enjoyed the meal, music, and quality service.
When we have guests from other countries we are often reminded about how much the valley has to offer. Our guests were amazed at the size of Comox lake and how little we seem to take advantage of that lake, access wise. I guess lake country in the UK is much smaller and definately more crowded compaired to what we are used to.
